It happens every April and every October. Tens of thousands of college students from across the region go to Keeneland for the thrill of horse racing, and maybe to drink in the parking lot. Inevitably, some of these students are underage. Any given weekend several students will be ticketed or arrested for crimes ranging from public intoxication to possession of a fake ID.
Many first time offenders will be eligible to take advantage of a diversion program to have the charge dismissed and expunged. Even some multiple offenders may be eligible for diversion. But even if your case is diverted, mugshots and police records can continue to haunt you even after your charge is supposedly removed from your record. Our firm has helped hundreds of Kentuckians clear youthful indiscretions from their records.
Additionally, criminal charges aren’t your only concern. Under the University of Kentucky Code of Student Conduct (UK AR 4-10) if you violate any state law or local ordinance you can face sanctions, regardless of where the violation occurs.
“The Code applies to behavior that occurs on or off UK Premises” – UK Code of Student Conduct.
Almost all other college codes of Student Conduct have a similar provision. Because of this, we take even very minor charges very seriously. If you are arrested at Keeneland, or anywhere off campus for underage drinking, give us a call before you go to court. We have experience representing students in court and in Student Conduct Hearings.

Bradley D. Clark Receiving the 2017 Young Professional Alumni Award from UK College of Law Dean Brennen
“I called Mr. Clark as a parent of a teenager who made his first mistake in college as a freshman. Needless to say, I was frantic and didn’t know what to do, so Mr. Clark in a very calm voice said, “I make your problem my problem until the problem is resolved.” Once he said that, I calmed down and realized that we were in good hands because Mr. Clark was going to do everything within his power and expertise to obtain the best results for our family. We hired Mr. Clark that day and our fears and worries subsided. Our case has since been successfully resolved.
From the beginning, Mr. Clark was very professional and thorough throughout the entire process. He knows the system and he has extensive experience working with the prosecutors and judges in the system.
If your family gets into a similar situation with your college student who made a bad decision as our family did, please do not hesitate to call Bradley Clark. To quote Mr. Clark,” I’ve always believed that every person is better than the worst decision they’ve ever made,” and he truly believes that and embodies it in every case.”
